Victoria, BC - The Capital Regional District is celebrating the final two weeks of the successful Transportation Tune Up (TTU) campaign by offering a variety of draw prizes for residents who pledge to tune up their travel habits before March 31, 2011.
All residents who submit a TTU pledge before the deadline will be entered to win transportation related prizes, including new bicycles, VIA Rail tickets, vehicle tune ups, year-long transit passes, walking gear and more. Prizes will be awarded throughout April 2011.
TTU has been educating citizens on fuel efficient driving techniques, rebate programs and greener travel choices since the campaign’s inception in October 2010. In partnership with Natural Resources Canada, ICBC and other local partners, TTU has trained nearly 700 citizens as “faculty members” who are helping spread the word on smart driving and sustainable transportation options in the region.
“TTU workshops were hosted at schools, offices, municipal halls and community centres across the region,” said Larisa Hutcheson, General Manager, Environmental Sustainability, CRD. “When it comes to saving money and reducing emissions, there are many ways that citizens can tune up their habits on the road. This campaign has helped to challenge assumptions and change behaviours in a fun and engaging way.”
