CRD Arts Commission Approves 2020 Arts Development Operating Grants to 21 Arts Organizations

Feb 03, 2020

Victoria, BC– The Capital Regional District (CRD) Arts Commission has approved funding for 21 local not-for-profit arts organizations through the Arts & Culture Support Service. A total of $589,050 will provide annual operating assistance to established organizations for programming and administration expenses.

”These organizations build our unique cultural landscape and stimulate a healthy creative economy,” said CRD Arts Commission Chair Jeremy Loveday. “Although requests were 25% more than available resources, we were able to approve a new recipient; the Victoria Baroque Players.”

In addition, nine other organizations receive multi-year support through the program. The approved grants meet the CRD’s mandate to support, promote and celebrate arts and culture.

The CRD Arts Development Service is provided by Saanich, Victoria, Oak Bay, Esquimalt, View Royal, Highlands, Metchosin, Sooke and Southern Gulf Islands. For more information, visit www.crd.bc.ca/arts.

Proud to be recognized as one of BC’s Top Employers and Canada’s Greenest Employers, the CRD delivers regional, sub-regional and local services to 13 municipalities and three electoral areas on southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
