Rainbow Road Recreation Centre Site Master Plan

Sep 27, 2021

Salt Spring Island, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) Salt Spring Island Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) is developing a 20-year master plan for the Rainbow Road Recreation Centre site. This project was identified as a priority in the SSI Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan in response to the community’s desire for increased access to indoor recreation facilities for residents and visitors.

The site master plan will assess current and future capacity needs to identify suitable expansion opportunities. This plan will inform a phased capital planning approach for new facilities and program amenities based on input provided from First Nations, key stakeholders and the public.

The first round of public engagement has begun with a public survey available online September 27 – October 19, 2021.  Hard copies of the survey can be picked up or dropped off at the Rainbow Road Aquatic Centre and Salt Spring Island Public Library.  In addition to the public survey, the process will include meeting with stakeholders, online forums and a virtual open house ahead of a draft master plan presented to PARC for final consideration.

Important Dates:

  • Public Survey – September 27 – October 19
  • Online Forums – October – December
  • Virtual Open House – January 2022
