Monday Recycling Pickup Delayed Today Due to Point Ellice (Bay Street) Bridge Closure

Jan 11, 2010

Victoria, BC – Capital Regional District Blue Box recycling pickup today, Monday, January 11, 2010, will be delayed until at least noon due to the closure of the Point Ellice (Bay Street) Bridge. The Bridge and surrounding streets are closed due to a ruptured gas main. Businesses along Bay Street are currently inaccessible, including International Paper Industries (IPI), the contract business that collects recycling materials for the region.

Residents who normally have their recycling collected today, Monday, January 11, should place items by the curb as usual; gas main crews are working at repairing the ruptured main and trucks may be permitted to leave later in the day. If recycling pickup is not completed today, residents should place items at the curb this coming Saturday, January 16, 2010, when an additional pickup will be scheduled, if necessary.
