About the System

The Surfside Park Estates Water System is located on the south west side of Mayne Island in the Southern Gulf Islands Electoral Area and provides drinking water to approximately 67 customers. CRD Integrated Water Services is responsible for the overall operation of the water system with day-to-day operation and maintenance, design and construction of water system facilities provided by the CRD Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Divisions. The quality of drinking water provided to customers in the Surfside Park Estates Water System is overseen by the CRD Water Quality Division.

Water Conservation

The CRD's Stage 1 Watering Schedule is in effect May 1 until September 30. By following the Stage 1 Watering Schedule and using water wisely outdoors, you can help save water, money, time and the environment.

Source Water

The Surfside Park Estates Water System obtains its drinking water from a well.

Water Treatment Process

The water treatment process consists of arsenic removal, ultraviolet disinfection chlorine (liquid sodium hypochlorite) disinfection.

Distribution System

Treated water is pumped to the distribution system and Surfside Reservoirs #1 and #2, separate storage tanks located adjacent to each other. Service connections are provided to the property line. Service from the property line to the dwelling is the homeowners’ responsibility. The distribution system also contains hydrants and standpipes.

Emergency Notifications

Register for the Emergency Notification System to receive drinking water related notifications such as boil water advisories. This system is also used to notify Electoral Area residents in the event of a disaster or emergency such as earthquakes, tsunami warnings, or hazardous spills.
