Rainwater Management Techniques Used

Rainwater Harvesting/Reuse

Four 10,000 gallon concrete tanks store rainwater collected from the metal roof via sand filters with screens. A medium particle filter, fine particle filter and UV filter cleanse the water. The four tanks make up the foundation of the main building. One inch of rain produces 1,500 gallons of water.

Additional Green Building Features

Much of the wood used in the building was cut and milled on the property. Scissor trusses permit high insulation in the ceiling, and passive solar principles have been used, as well as hydronic in-floor heating. Future plans include PV solar electric heating.
