The project total is estimated at $1.2 million. Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is providing the inclusive multisport court in addition to supporting some of the site preparation costs. The remaining $663,461 will come from the Peninsula Recreation Commission’s capital plan for the site preparation, playground relocation, surfacing upgrades, design and permit fees and project management.

The Jumpstart Inclusive Multisport Court will be located at Panorama Recreation Centre in North Saanich, BC and feature:

  • Sport and para sport court lines for basketball, tennis, ball hockey, volleyball, pickleball and badminton
  • Adjustable basketball nets
  • High contrast four-square court and hop-scotch play area
  • Contrasting colours to support visual impairment
  • Shaded double-wide benches for improved accessibility
  • Wheelchair-accessible seating and tables
  • Shaded accessible bleachers
  • Cushion Comfort Plus Laykold acyclic surfacing system
The shared Jumpstart Inclusive Multisport Court is designed for a variety of sports and will allow accessible programming for all ages.  It also meets the needs expressed by the local community during the engagement process from the 2016-2020 strategic plan.
