Passionate About Parks? Volunteer!
Regional Parks provides opportunities for you to be involved in the preservation and enjoyment of regional parks and trails with positions for naturalists, restoration volunteers, park stewards and trail ambassadors. There are also opportunities for groups to help with one-time, short-term projects such as park clean-ups, invasive species removal and plantings.
No Experience Necessary
We provide training, support, a fascinating and beautiful work environment and a great deal of appreciation. You provide your time and enthusiasm.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Hike regularly in a designated park or trail and report to us on trail conditions, facilities and any observed problems, or issues. Foster positive relationships with regional park and trail visitors through information, education and positive role modelling. The commitment is for one year and requires a weekly hike in their assigned park and submission of a weekly report.
Assist Regional Parks staff at special and community events. Positions involve staffing an information station, craft station, face painting or other tasks as required. The commitment is for one event, two to four hours.
Participate in removing invasive species and restoration of natural habitats within regional parks and trails. Commitment is for one three-hour session. Sessions are offered throughout the year.
Volunteer in the Nature Centre at either Francis/King Regional Park in Saanich, or Witty's Lagoon Regional Park in Metchosin. Naturalists welcome, engage and help build awareness, understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural environments in regional parks and trails. A monthly commitment of a four-hour shift (noon-4pm), on a Saturday or Sunday year round is required.
