How do I apply for positions with the CRD?

To apply for a job opportunity, submit your résumé and covering letter through our online application system by clicking the “Apply” icon located next to the posting in which you are interested and follow the steps outlined. Applications submitted online will be received immediately.

All correspondence (covering letter, résumé, etc.) can be addressed to “The Selection Committee.” Please clearly identify the position that you are applying for by quoting competition number and job title.

To upload your application online, you should will need to submit it in PDF format.

Shortly after submitting your application online, you should receive an email confirming receipt. If you have not received this email within 24 hours, please check your junk mail before contacting the Human Resources office at 250.360.3069.

The CRD only receives and retains résumés for posted vacancies. Only those applicants who are actively being considered for interviews will be contacted.

How do I know if the CRD received my application?

When you submit your application through our online system you will receive an email response confirming that your application was received. If you have not received this email within 24 hours, please check your junk mail before contacting the Human Resources office at 250.360.3069.

What can I expect if my application is selected for further consideration?

Applicants moving forward in the recruitment and selection process will be assessed for their knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies for the job. These assessments may take various forms, such as: written assignments, presentations, interviews, etc. depending on the competencies required of the role. Additionally, reference checks will be performed.

What do “Current CRD Employees Only” and “Jobs Open to the Public” mean?

Postings under the heading of "Current CRD Employees Only" means that applications received by current CRD employees will be reviewed. If you are not a current CRD employee, your application will not be considered.

If a position is not filled through the above process, we open up the opportunity to members of the public and the posting would be moved under the "Jobs Open to the Public" heading.

I am not a current CRD employee. Can I apply to a “Current CRD Employees Only” competition?

No. Non-CRD employees cannot apply for “Current CRD Employees Only” competitions. Applications from non-CRD employees will not be retained.

I think I am a current CRD employee although I have not worked for a few months. How do I find out if I am still a current CRD employee?

If you are not sure if you meet this criteria, please contact the Human Resources and Corporate Safety office at 250.360.3069. They will be able to confirm if you are currently a CRD employee.

What are “Auxiliary” Job Opportunities?

Auxiliary positions are also sometimes referred to as casual, temporary or term positions. Auxiliary positions can be full-time, part-time or “as and when required.” The posting will typically indict the length of assignment and anticipated hours of work.

I am unable to submit my application online. What do I do?

We strongly encourage all applicants to use our online application process. This allows us to track your application, provides you with immediate confirmation that we’ve received your application and helps us reduce paper consumption. If you do not have internet access you may apply via the following means:

  • Email careers@crd.bc.ca. Please provide the competition number and job title in the subject line
  • Fax 250.360.3076. Please provide the competition number and job title on the cover sheet
  • In person at the main CRD reception desk: 625 Fisgard Street, Victoria, BC

Do I have to apply separately for every vacancy advertised?

Yes. Each position is reviewed independent of one another. If you wish to apply for more than one position, please submit separate applications – quoting the job title and competition number – for each.

I'm not a Canadian Citizen. Can I apply for work with the CRD?

Applicants seeking employment within the CRD must be eligible to legally work in Canada and be able to provide the supporting documentation indicating so.

Where will I be working if I am hired by the CRD?

The CRD has employees in several worksites within the Region, including Victoria (Fisgard location), Saanich Peninsula, View Royal, Langford, Sooke, Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, Salt Spring Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. Please refer to the posted opportunity for specifics on the worksite location.

Do I have to submit to a criminal record check?

Some jobs at the CRD require prospective employees to undergo a criminal record check. The type of criminal record checks that we do are specific to roles in which the employee will work with vulnerable adults or children.
