The CRD is a diverse organization united by a common purpose: to serve the public good and build a vibrant, livable and sustainable region. The work we do has a lasting impact in our community and our employees are key to our success.
Our Culture
Our cultural traits reflect what we value as an organization. They were developed through an employee-driven process and are the behaviours and mindset we strive to demonstrate and apply throughout our work.
We are actively working to shape our region at the community level and as an employer. We have been recognized with a variety of awards over the years for the work we do, as well as our environmental leadership as an organization.
We are proud of the many ways our employees contribute to their community inside and outside of work. Our employees are actively involved with and assist organizations such as the United Way, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Mustard Seed.

Health and Safety
We value a workplace that's safe and secure. As an organization, this means designing, implementing and managing our work to promote healthy and safe working conditions and attitudes as integral to everything we do.
This commitment includes a comprehensive safety plan to mitigate the spread of communicable diseases such as COVID-19, and to ensure safety is part of our corporate culture.
Through the active participation and co-operation of management, supervisors, workers and joint occupational health and safety committees, the CRD is proud to participate in the Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program.
Employers receive COR certification when they implement an occupational health and safety management system that has successfully passed an external audit and met WorkSafeBC's standards. As an employer, the CRD received COR certification in 2021 in recognition of our efforts to proactively improve workplace safety and our commitment to going above and beyond what is legally required.
