Westside Community Engagement

Critical to the successful development of a Westside Solution is engaging Westside residents so we can understand what you think is important when considering a wastewater treatment facility for your community. Below is an overview of the community engagement strategy.

Option Set Consultation (Phase 2)

Westside Open Houses:

As part of the second phase of consultation (January 13 - February 20), Westside Solutions hosted Open Houses in each Westside Community. Westside Solutions also hosted a breakfast for local businesses to discuss project related concerns and opportunities from a business perspective.

Westside and Eastside Survey:

In conjunction with the Eastside, Westside Solutions conducted a survey to engage residents around Core Area option sets. The survey was available from January 25, 2016 to February 20, 2016.

Siting Consultation (Phase 1)

Westside and Eastside Open House:

Eastside and Westside Select Committees presented their wastewater treatment option sets for to the public on June 24, 2015. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the work that has been done to date and how they could continue to provide feedback moving forward.

Roundtables:

We would like to thank those who participated in the Westside Solutions Roundtables. The three roundtables have now been completed and Westside Solutions is pleased to release the raw data that was collected.

These roundtables have helped to further narrow the public priorities surrounding the wastewater treatment system. Information from these roundtables will be used to inform the public conversation moving forward.

Open Houses:

We would like to thank Colwood, Esquimalt, Langford, Songhees Nation, and View Royal for hosting the Westside Solution open houses. Over 200 people attended an open house to get more information on wastewater treatment and resource recovery and to share their opinions on wastewater treatment for the westside.

Survey:

Westside Solutions conducted a survey to begin to engage citizens in a dialogue around options in the new Westside process and to get preliminary feedback from residents. The survey was available on the Westside Solutions website from December 12, 2014 to February 01, 2015.

Information from the surveys was be combined with technical information that Westside Solutions has requested from the consulting community to develop preliminary options. These options were presented to the public in the second phase of public engagement.
