What would you like to Recycle?



Gasoline and other flammable liquids are collected free of charge at designated recycling areas across BC as part of the legislated Product Stewardship program coordinated by Product Care Recycling. An eco fee is included in the cost each time a flammable liquid is purchased to cover the cost of safe disposal or recycling. How do I go green?

Walk, cycle, or car pool, to reduce your carbon footprint and gasoline use. Don't idle. Use a push mower.

Check around before safely disposing of gasoline, as friends, family or neighbours may have a use for it. Gasoline that has been sitting for a while can be made usable by adding a stabilising additive or by adding new gasoline and using it for the lawnmower instead of the car.

Gasoline is part of Household Hazardous Waste collection at the Hartland Depot in residential quantities and at alternate locations listed. As required by Product Care gasoline will only be accepted in an ULC-approved gas can (jerry can), max 25L. For safety reasons, the gasoline container cannot be returned to you at drop off. See depot attendant for a $10 voucher for purchasing a new container.

    Gasoline is a fossil fuel and non-renewable resource. Our cars release exhaust in the process that pollutes our atmosphere. If disposed of improperly, gasoline will seep into our groundwater and soils.
