Michigan Square is currently a 62-unit housing development owned by the Capital Region Housing Corporation since 1985. Redevelopment will include replacing the three buildings fronting Michigan Street with two new 4-storey apartment buildings containing 97 new affordable rental housing units in addition to the retention of a 9 unit heritage home.

The Michigan Square project includes 15 units at provincial income assistance rates under the Regional Housing First Program as part of the 53-unit westerly building. The project is anticipated to begin construction no earlier than November 2021 with occupancy in summer 2023.
