Michigan Square is currently a 62-unit housing development owned by the Capital Region Housing Corporation since 1985. Redevelopment will include replacing the three buildings fronting Michigan Street with two new 4-storey apartment buildings containing 97 new affordable rental housing units in addition to the retention of a 9-unit heritage home.

As part of the RHFP, the Michigan Square project includes 15 units at provincial income assistance rates as part of the 53-unit first building and nine units at provincial income assistance rates as part of the 44-unit second building. The project is anticipated to begin construction no earlier than December 2021 with occupancy in Q4 of 2023.
