City Nature Challenge iNaturalist Event - All ages

May 01, 2023, 10am-12pm

Event Information

Join nature lovers across the capital region in celebrating local species and ecosystems by participating in the 2023 City Nature Challenge. From April 28 through May 1, photograph and document local biodiversity in the capital region using the free iNaturalist website or app, and help to build a record of the nature that surrounds us. More than 400 cities around the world will be participating in the City Nature Challenge this year, as a global celebration of biodiversity in and around urban areas.

Drop by Esquimalt Lagoon to get to know the plants and animals that call it home, and enter into some friendly competition with other nature lovers! Download the free iNaturalist app before you arrive or bring a digital camera. CRD and Parks Canada staff can help you learn how to use the iNaturalist app to photograph and share your nature observations with like-minded naturalists.

Meeting place: Meet by the washrooms off Ocean Boulevard and Lagoon Road.

To bring: Cell phone with free iNaturalist app downloaded or digital camera.
