Project Description:

The intent of the upgrades is to protect existing and future electrical equipment located in the basement level of the Rainbow Road Aquatic Centre on Salt Spring Island, BC. Work will include the following:

  1. Corridor 001: upgrade ventilation to protect from corrosion to existing fire alarm panel and intrusion alarm
  2. Electrical room 002: repair / upgrade envelope (fire stop all penetrations and openings) and add ventilation
  3. Mechanical Room 003: build closet with double doors to protect existing electrical panels from corrosion and direct exposure to potential pipe bursts. Closet requires positive air pressure
  4. Work includes new HVAC and lighting, along with modifications of existing HVAC and lighting in Corridor 001, Electrical room 002, Mechanical Room 003, in the interior staircase and to the main floor’s exterior wall (2x new caps)
  5. Site work: supply and install new top inlet catch basin / area drain and storm service connection

This work is intended to mitigate the following existing issues:

  • Humidity- and chemical-driven corrosion of existing and future electrical equipment in Corridor 001, Electrical Room 002 and Mechanical Room 003
  • Risk of damage to the existing electrical panels near the entry door in Mechanical Room 003
