Call for Credentials
Hartland Landfill
Integrated Environmental Performance Assessment Model
Background
The CRD is interested in developing a site-specific computer model that integrates engineering design with environmental performance for the Hartland Landfill. Expertise is needed to fully define the scope of the model, and the successful proponent will be expected to lead this initial aspect of the work. With the successful proponent the CRD expects to establish the timeline for model development, use, and updates.
Scope of Work
CRD envisions the engineering model to function as a tool which will be used to evaluate the environmental performance of the landfill based on a range of possible operating scenarios associated with the disposal of municipal solid waste, and also to test management strategies. The model may also be used to predict where leachate mounding is occurring within the landfill footprint, and to assess migration of leachate over the contaminating lifespan of the landfill. The model will support CRD responses to internal, regulatory, and public inquiries relating to environmental management, and will serve as a tool to better illustrate environmental management programs at the landfill.
With support from the successful proponent the CRD intends to calibrate and update the model annually with data collected from the landfill monitoring program.
