Description
The Ganges Harbour Walk Project is a community project being developed in consultation with local stakeholders.
The Capital Regional District (CRD) will be responsible for the design and construction of the harbour walk. The project design is divided into five phases:
- Assessments
- Secure tenure area
- Procuring designs and order of magnitude costs
- Project funding
- Construction
The Ganges Harbour Walk Project was awarded $150,000 in Community Works Funds to initiate the planning work. Part of this funding has been used for Phase 1 to assess the existing boardwalk structure and feasibility of rehabilitating or replacing sections of the boardwalk that have been closed. Studies for archeological, environmental, geotechnical and structural have now been completed and will inform next steps and design.
The Ganges Harbour Walk Steering Committee was established by the CRD Board to oversee the project as it progresses and seek ways to secure funding to construct the final harbour alignment.
