2012 Native Plant Gardening Workshops
This FREE three hour workshop on gardening with drought-resistant native plants will:
- Identify native plants
- Review the benefits of native plants
- Teach how and where to grow native plants
- Offer tips for reducing or eliminating lawns
- Inform how to create special natural habitats, such as meadows, thickets, woodlands
- Discuss how to attract wildlife to the garden
- Include an informative tour of the native plant garden
- Review of CRD conservation programs
Instructor: Patricia Johnston, Native Plant & Waterwise consultant.
Each workshop is limited to 20 participants and pre-registration is required. Please call Swan Lake at 250.479.0211 to register. Workshops are held in the Spring and Fall.

The Next Steps in Native Plant Gardening
Join Native plant gardening consultant Pat Johnston to learn advanced knowledge of native plants and how to garden with them. This workshop will provide a forum for discussion, problem solving, sharing ideas and an opportunity for participants to expand their knowledge of native plant gardening.
This workshop is designed for individuals who have native plant gardening experience and attendance at the "Grow a Native Plant Garden" workshop (above) is a pre-requisite.
Topics to be covered:
- review of native plants for your garden
- new and different native plants for your garden
- native plants by season and colour
- garden problems - finding solutions
- viewing native plant gardens
