Regional Trails
The Capital Regional District has a network of more than 80 kilometres of multi-use trails passing through and connecting our communities.
Residents and visitors alike love traveling these pathways, on foot or by bicycle, through farmland, over forest, alongside ocean views, past nearby parks, all within a day’s travel of Victoria. It is any wonder that we are known as the cycling capital of Canada!
Galloping Goose Regional Trail
The Galloping Goose Regional Trail connect to the Lochside at the Switch Bridge in Saanich. Part of the Trans Canada Trail, this picturesque multi-use trail, also a former railway line, moves through urban, rural and wilderness scenery on its 55 kilometre journey from Victoria to Sooke.
Lochside Regional Trail
The Lochside Regional Trail, a converted railway line, is a stunning multi-use trail stretching from the ferry at Swartz Bay to Victoria, past beaches, farmland and wetlands, near down country lanes and beside suburban backyards.
Future Trails
E&N Regional Trail (working title)
A new cycling commuter route and recreational trail is being constructed largely within the E&N rail corridor. Once complete, this newest addition to the trail system will provide an important transportation link between Victoria and the West Shore.
In the future, a Trans Canada Trail route will link from the City of Langford to the Cowichan Valley Regional District. That will extend the regional trails network to more than 110 kilometres!
