Port Renfrew Recreation Centre Operating Committee

On April 26, 2011 the Juan de Fuca Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission approved a terms of reference for the newly formed Port Renfrew Recreation Centre Operating Committee.   As an operating committee under the Commission, the committee's role will be to manage the day-to-day maintenance and use of  the community recreation centre, develop rental  and use fees, an operating program and budget and recommend capital improvements.   Recognizing that there are many challenges ahead to improve the functionality of the centre,  establish a revenue base and secure an operating budget, the committee members are highly motivated and committed to making this initiative a community success story.

With a new roof and improvements to the electrical and heating systems for the building, the Operating Committee has been working hard over the past several months to develop a vision, operating standards and fee structures to attract potential renters, community events and recreation programs. Over the next few months, work will be carried out to complete renovation needs to freshen up the look of the interior and ensure safety items and inspections are kept up to date. Any volunteer or other support would be greatly appreciated, and they are ready to work with businesses and organizations for lease or meeting arrangements. For further information, contact:

Help Steward Our Community Treasures

Community parks and trails are yours to enjoy, and a legacy for future generations. While visiting, please respect the private property next to the parks, trails, viewpoints, and ocean accesses and leave no trace of your visit or the visit of your dog. Leave the treasures that you find, including wildflowers, for others to enjoy.

Stewardship Agreements

If you wish to volunteer your time and skills towards the management and upkeep of your community parks, contact commission staff to find out about the stewardship program.
