Mount View Heights

The former Mount View School site, now owned by the Capital Regional Hospital District is a 3.3 hectare land assembly located at 3814/3818 Carey Road. Following a comprehensive rezoning process, a plan has been developed for the site that addresses three key regional priorities—a 'Campus of Care' for seniors, housing for the homeless, and affordable family housing.
Proposal for the Mount View Heights Land
The site is now rezoned and ready for development. The proposed development plan includes:
- A residential care facility combined with an independent living development and affordable housing for seniors in a Campus of Care setting. This initiative has been taken through the expressed interest of Baptist Housing Ministries
- A supportive housing development for the homeless to be operated by the Victoria Cool Aid Society
- Fourteen, three-storey affordable family townhome units
- Potential provision for market development in the form of residential/office or mixed use
- Community park and trails
Project Details
Designed to provide an overall campus or park-like setting, the proposed project minimizes site coverage by building up to eight storeys, and placing as much parking underground as is practicable.
The project will be "green", incorporating sustainable elements, and all buildings designed to qualify for LEED status.
A Transportation Demand Management (TDM) plan will encourage use of public transit via the new transit interchange at the Uptown, Town & Country Shopping Centre.
Mount View's original heritage as a school will be remembered and celebrated with references throughout the site's landscaping plan.
