We believe that everyone should have an opportunity to participate in recreation activities, and with that, are committed to providing supports and services for community members that work to minimize barriers and encourage participation.

Facilities

We operate two main facilities, Panorama Recreation Centre and Greenglade Community Centre, and utilize additional spaces throughout the community to accommodate a variety of seasonal programming. Panorama Recreation Centre and Greenglade Community Centre are accessible, with the following features:

Panorama Recreation Centre

  • Designated accessible parking stalls in the north and south parking lots.
  • Main floor accessible level facility.
  • Passenger drop-off close to facility.
  • Accessible pathway with handrails. Slight slope on pathway.
  • Designated handyDART loading zone.
  • Wheelchair accessible facility.
  • Power-assisted front doors.
  • Accessible single (universal) and multi-stall (gendered) washrooms and showers.
  • Infant change tables.
  • Sharps disposal.
  • Hearing loop at main reception area.
  • Elevator to second floor.
  • Accessible entry gates.
  • Accessible lobby seating area with tables.

Aquatics

  • Accessible main-level facility with lift access to main pool, leisure pool, lazy river, hot tub and waterslide.

* Available to persons of all ages, genders, and abilities. 

Arena

  • Automatic lobby and arena facility entrance doors.
  • Dry floor arena accessible with ramp.
  • Ice surface accessible with ramp.
  • Wheelchair accessible spectator viewing (Arena A – located at the south/east end. Arena B – located at the south/west end).
  • Accessible washrooms (non-power assisted doors).

Fitness Studio

  • Accessible main-level facility.
  • Hearing loop.
  • Double doors.

Playground

  • Accessible playground.
  • Wheelchair accessible tables.
  • Accessible ramp access on to main structure.
  • Rubber surfacing to allow barrier free access to playground component.
  • Jumpstart Multi Sport Court

Weight Room

  • Elevator access to second-level facility.
  • Accessible, gendered washrooms.
  • Accessible weight training equipment including; functional training cable machines, NuSteps and recumbent. stationary bikes, various free weight and resistance equipment, and Active Hands gripping aids.
  • Single (universal) washroom in Lookout room.

Sports

  • Ramp accessible indoor tennis courts. 
  • Parking and path accessible outdoor tennis courts.
  • Accessible playground - Please note the accessible swing is currently not available. 
  • Accessible Jumpstart Multi Sport Court.

Boardroom

  • Main-level facility.
  • Ramp accessible.

Greenglade Community Centre

  • Designated accessible parking stalls.
  • Single-level facility.
  • Power assisted front doors.
  • Accessible single (universal) and multi-stall (gendered) washroom.
  • Infant change tables.

Weight Room

  • Accessible main-level facility.
  • Power-assisted doors.
  • Accessible weight room equipment including functional training cable machines, NuSteps and recumbent stationary bikes, various free weight and resistance equipment, and Active Hands gripping aids.

Playground

  • Accessible ramp access onto main structure.
  • Rubber surfacing to allow barrier free access to two large playground components.

Programs

Committed to making recreation accessible and inclusive, many of our programs can be adapted to meet your needs. If you or your child has a particular inclusion need, please give us a call in advance, and we would be happy to discuss program details and any adaptations or support needed to ensure a positive experience. We appreciate as much advance notice as can be provided.

Safe Spaces

Jumpstart
Multi Sport Court

Construction is complete and the Jumpstart Multi Sport Court is open at Panorama Recreation Centre.  Learn more about this inclusive and accessible facility available for public use here.

Financial Assistance

One-on-One Support in Camps

Does your child receive educational assistance at school? Would they benefit from one-on-one support within our programs?

To ensure your child has the best possible experience and receives the support they need, families are encouraged to arrange additional support prior to program participation.

The Supported Child Development Program through Island Health, and Aboriginal Supported Child Development Program, work with eligible families by offering resources, ongoing support, observations and training. We recommend contacting them early as demand is high.
