sgiThe Southern Gulf Islands inspire creativity and attract artists and artisans who make their homes and present their work to visitors and residents alike.

Where to Find Public Art

The Southern Gulf Islands are a collection of mid-sized islands and islets located off the east coast of Vancouver Island. The Southern Gulf Islands of Galiano, Mayne, North and South Pender Islands, Saturna, Piers and associated islands make up the rural area. Each island is accessible by ferry from the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal in North Saanich.

Arts & Culture Policy

The Southern Gulf Islands do not have a public art policy. Each island community operates autonomously in keeping with its own unique culture. The Southern Gulf Islands Arts Council is a unifying organization that supports and enhances the arts throughout the islands.

The Southern Gulf Islands contributes to the CRD Arts & Culture Support Service, which provides funding to arts organizations on behalf of nine municipalities and electoral areas in the capital region.
