From the VEHEAP partnership there are now two collaborative, community harbour-based initiatives established. The CRD supports these initiatives by funding a part-time coordinator to organize meetings, initiate and coordinate projects and seek funding.
Gorge Waterway Initiative (GWI)
The GWI is a collaborative, community-driven group of organizations concerned with protecting and enhancing the natural and cultural features of the Gorge Waterway, Portage Inlet and the surrounding watersheds. Read more >>
Esquimalt Lagoon Stewardship Initiative (ELSI)
ELSI is a broad coalition of community and environmental groups, institutions, the business community, recreational user groups and the government (federal, First Nations, provincial and municipal) working together to protect, enhance and restore Esquimalt Lagoon and the Coburg Peninsula.
