Panorama Recreation, a division of the Parks, Recreation & Environmental Services business unit of the CRD, works to promote individual and community wellness by providing recreation opportunities that reflect the needs of our communities in an effective and efficient manner. We serve residents and visitors of the Saanich Peninsula, which includes Town of Sidney, District of North Saanich, District of Central Saanich, and BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout), W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip) and W̱SIKEM (Tseycum) First Nations.

Free Drop-in Access

Free drop-in access to swimming, skating, weight room and *fitness classes, plus discounted court rentals and *registered programs.

Dependent on the status of your role (auxiliary, regular, temporary), complimentary drop-in access for your immediate family to swimming, skating, weight room and *fitness classes.

EV charging stations and a sheltered bike lock-up are available at Panorama Recreation Centre, and the centre is conveniently located on a bus route.

Employee and Family Assistance Program provides employees and their families with free access to safe, confidential, and professional resources to help navigate personal matters such as finances, relationships, retirement, and health concerns, just to name a few.

A Range of Career Opportunities 

Panorama Recreation employs over 250 auxiliary, part-time, and full time-staff at four locations on the Saanich Peninsula.

Types of Employment

Auxiliary

Dependent on the role, department and time of year, hours and shifts may be consistent or irregular — on-call or following a scheduled shift.

Regular

Permanent full-time or part-time work. Usually for set hours every week.

Temporary

Typically, these roles are backfill for a regular employee who is off work for an extended period of time, or term positions to support with special projects.

Program and Service Areas

Administrative

Examples of roles within this department include Receptionist, Administrative Coordinator, Administrative Secretary and Reception Team Lead — some primarily front-line and others working behind the scenes.

Aquatics

A number of opportunities exist in the Aquatics department, including Assistant Lifeguard, Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, Team Leader, Aquafit Instructor and Recreation Programmer.

As a member of the Aquatics department staff, you would be part of a close-knit, professional team, responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of aquatic facility users and supporting people of all ages and abilities in learning lifelong water safety skills.

Arena

Opportunities within the Arena department exist for those with and without skating experience. Roles include Skating Instructor, Skate Patrol/Attendant, Skate Sharpener, Arena Coordinator and Arena Programs Assistant. As an Arena department staff, you would be part of a close-knit, professional team; responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of Arena facility users and supporting people of all ages and abilities in learning skating skills. 

Community Recreation - Youth and Adult

In the Youth Community Recreation department, you need to love kids! We do a lot of different things, including hosting birthday parties, leading day camps, after school care, art classes, drop-in sports, youth leadership and teen lounge. We also run a year-round preschool and group childcare, led by certified Early Childhood Educators and Assistants. Many of our staff use their experience at Panorama when working towards careers as teachers, councillors and more.

In the Adult Community Recreation department, you may either be the coordinator or a contract instructor (non-staff position). If you are interested in instructing a course as a contractor, please visit the Program Proposals section of our website for more information.

Communications and Special Events

Opportunities within this department include the Communication and Special Events Coordinator, Special Events and Marketing Assistant, and Special Events Monitor.

As a Special Events Monitor, you get paid to play! In this role, you would have the opportunity to connect with our community through fun and interactive activities. Whether it be supervising our 50-foot inflatable obstacle course, leading active games or painting glitter tattoos, you can always create a smile on someone’s face.

Racquet Sports

We are a team of skilled, enthusiastic, caring coaches, sharing our passion for racquet sports! As a Tennis Instructor, you may work with players of all ages and skill levels, independently or in a co-instructing capacity.

Other opportunities within this department include Racquet Sports Coordinator, Tennis Camp Leader and Tennis Camp Assistant.
