Sculpted in relief, eagle, orca, and dogwoods are circling a compass rose with the Canadian maple leaf in center. The reverse side shows an ammonite shell in honour of the shell life that created the marble millions of years ago.
The wording on the granite plaques at the base of the sculpture was written by wellness educator and storyteller, Nadina Stewart Schaddelee. The sculpture was unveiled on Earth Day and was donated by the Schaddelees.
A Touchstone of Peace for the New Millennium - inspired by a trip across Canada and an understanding that what we all have in common is the beautiful land and its gift of new possibilities. We are at peace with Nature, we are one. The desire is for art to speak to all ages and diversities of people.
Thank you to Canada for welcoming us here.
