Map of the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area
Community parks in the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area are under the jurisdiction of the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission. These beautiful areas are largely undeveloped and are classified as park reserves. Hikers are rewarded with a plethora of wildflowers, stunning views of the south island and a chorus of birds throughout the year.

East Sooke
East Sooke has abundant parks and protected areas. Shoreline accesses range from sheltered bays at Anderson Cove and Aylard Farm to rugged rocky outcroppings at Iron Mine Bay. View points are accessible from Mount Maguire and along the East Sooke Park coast trail. Take the galloping goose trail to Matheson Lake or launch a kayak at Roche Cove. The beauty of this area is extraordinary.

The Sea to Sea Greenbelt& Sooke Hills
The expansive Sea to Sea area protects a large parcel of the Sooke Hills, located northeast of the town of Sooke. This new park is still largely undeveloped; please take caution when exploring. Official access can be found on Harbourview Road, where rugged trails lead up Mount Quimper as well as beyond to Grassy, Shield, and Crabapples Lakes.
Watch the salmon run at Pyum Creek, bike the Galloping Goose Trail to Kapoor and explore the potholes along the Sooke River. Stay awhile! Camping is available at The Land Conservancy campground or you can sign up for seasonal activities at Camp Thunderbird.

Sooke

The town of Sooke presents a multitude of opportunities for viewing nature, walking and recreation. Watch the salmon run at Sun River Nature Park, beach-comb along Billings Spit, register for activities at SEAPARC, or get on the water with the Longboat Society.

Otter Point
The coastline around Otter Point offers stunning views of the Juan de Fuca Straight and Olympic Mountains. Many of the parks in this area are undeveloped so exercise caution when exploring. Contact Camp Barnard about their scheduled activities or join Juan de Fuca Community Trails Society for a hike.

Shirley & Jordan River

Shirley and Jordan River are small, rural communities surrounded by coastal rainforest, beautiful trails, beaches and hills. Camp at French Beach, visit Fishboat Bay and immerse yourself in the rich history of the area.

Juan de Fuca Marine Trail

The challenging Juan de Fuca Marine Trail extends 47 spectacular kilometres from China Beach to Port Renfrew. There are many accesses to the trail which allow for shorter explorations and day hikes. Completion of the entire trail takes from three to five days, depending on skill level, weather conditions and tides.

Extending inland, parallel to the coast, is the sensitive alpine ecosystem of the San Juan Ridge wilderness area.
