Volunteers Needed 50 Years and Older!
SEAPARC recently received a grant from Canada’s New Horizons For Seniors Program. With this funding, SEAPARC plans to expand on the programs and services currently offered to our 50+ residents. Carrie Sjostrom has been hired as the Senior Volunteer Programmer and is currently working with a core group of community members in developing the Senior Volunteer Committee. The Committee will recruit and promote senior volunteers, aid in the development of a senior volunteer data base, discuss new initiatives, offer information sessions within the community and participate in community events aimed at promoting senior volunteerism. The Committee will research and promote training opportunities for those seniors interested in delivering recreation and health programs. The Committee will also identify and develop recreation programs that will be lead by senior volunteers in the community. We are planning to launch these new programs in September 2010.
