To access the public drop-off area at Hartland, follow the signs to the general public scale where an attendant will direct you for unloading. Some items are charged by weight, others are subject to a recycling fee and some materials are accepted at no charge.

  • Maximum vehicle size: 5,500kg GVW
  • Extra charges will apply for business recycling
  • All loads must be covered and secured (penalties in effect)

Salvageable Goods

The Salvage area at Hartland accepts some reusable items that are in working order. These goods are made available to non-profit or charitable organizations for reuse or resale. The items accepted varies; please see onsite attendant for more information.

Changing Markets for Canada's Recyclable Materials

The collection of large mixed plastic items (e.g. lawn furniture, hard plastic swimming pools) has been discontinued at the Hartland recycling depot as of January 1, 2018. Read more >>

Covered Loads

All loads must be covered and secured in order to reduce litter on roadways. Those vehicles arriving with uncovered and/or unsecured loads will be charged double the normal fee.
