Who We Fund and What They Do

The CRD Arts & Culture Support Service has provided grants to not-for-profit organizations since it was established in 2001. We invest $2.3 million in the arts annually. Funding recipients are listed below.

Community Arts


  • Ballet Victoria A boutique professional company in Victoria, BC.
  • Broken Rhythms Showcases the unique style of rhythmical contemporary dance.
  • Dance Victoria Bringing the world’s best dance to the region and supporting the development of new dance.
  • Embrace Arts Foundation Devoted to creating meaningful artistic opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Provides a range of programming (dance & theatre).
  • Flamenco de la Isla Society Promoting the art of Flamenco and presents the Victoria Flamenco Festival.
  • Snafu Dance Theatre Society Creative collaborations connect multi-disciplinary artists in theatre, storytelling, puppetry, dance, live music, circus, and visual art.
  • Suddenly Dance Theatre Supports the development, creation, presentation, and preservation of the dance arts through collaboration and diverse media to reach the widest possible audience.


Film & Media

  • CineVic Affordable and accessible development opportunities, programming, and equipment resources.
  • CFUV Radio provides an opportunity for members of the Greater Victoria Community, primarily on a voluntary basis, to operate a radio station.
  • Hispanic Film Society of Victoria Promoting Latin American and Spanish Cinema in Victoria through the organization of an annual Film Week.
  • MediaNet Promoting the practice of media arts, equipment, education and programming.
  • Victoria Film Festival A nucleus of the cinematic arts on Vancouver Island, year-round events and annual festival.




  • Atomic Vaudeville Creating plays, cabarets, and commissioned performances that are a mélange of theatre, music, song, dance, puppetry, sketch and much more.
  • Belfry Theatre Professional theatre, dedicated to producing contemporary plays, with an emphasis on Canadian work.
  • Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre Theatre productions of great works of the past.
  • Castlereigh Theatre Project Society Creating documentary plays for the theatre.
  • Impulse Theatre Society Multidisciplinary theatre company creating transformative live performance.
  • Intrepid Theatre Contemporary theatre productions including Fringe Theatre Festival an Uno Fest.
  • Kaleidoscope Theatre Theatre experiences for young people and their families.
  • Puente Theatre Using theatrical experience as a bridge between cultures.
  • Story Theatre Brings relevant, vibrant, educational theatre to elementary school audiences and their families across Canada.
  • The Other Guys Theatre Company Creates musical, theatrical productions inspired by local stories.
  • Theatre Inconnu Bringing thought-provoking and affordable quality theatre to the community since 1987.
  • Theatre SKAM Known for our sense of fun, SKAM creates theatre that is innovative and entertaining, and above all – never boring.
  • Victoria Gilbert & Sullivan Society Community theatre group dedicated to the promotion of the arts, in particular the works of William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan.
  • Victoria Shakespeare Society Bringing engaging and theatrical Shakespearean experiences to the community.
  • William Head on Stage The only inmate-run prison theatre company in all of Canada that invites the public into the prison to experience their shows.

Visual Art

  • arc.hive arts society arc.hive artist run centre supports the emergence and development of inclusive collaborative practices in contemporary arts.
  • Art Gallery of Greater Victoria The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is a place for people, ideas, and experiences.
  • Deluge Contemporary Art Deluge represents a vanguard of visual and media arts in Victoria & hosts the Antimatter festival.
  • Fifty Fifty Arts Collective Volunteer-run, multi-disciplinary programming space that supports both emerging and established artists.
  • Ground Zero Printmaking Society supports the practice and dissemination of printmaking.
  • Ministry of Casual Living Artist-Run Centre, exhibiting the works of contemporary emerging and mid-career artists.
  • Open Space Artist-Run Centre (founded 1972) that presents contemporary visual art, music, writing, media arts and more.
  • Xchanges Artists' Gallery A member-driven artists’ cooperative operating a gallery and affordable studios for practicing artists.
