Maliview sewer service requires replacement of the land portion of the sewer treatment plant outfall pipe and repairs to the gravity sewer collection. The outfall from the rotating biological contactor (RBC) unit to the marine portion of the outfall has deteriorated significantly and is at risk of repeated failures. Replacement of the land portion of the outfall complete with concrete protection will reduce unscheduled/unplanned repairs.
The Maliview sewer outfall portion of the works includes lining approximately 100m of the outfall with a Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) polymer liner. The Maliview sewer collection system portion of the works includes spot repairs of Inflow and Infiltration (I&I) leaks along the approximately 1.1 km long sewer main.
This project was made possible with the assistance of Federal Gas Tax Funding, with $195,000 allocated by the CRD as part of the Community Works Fund for the Salt Spring Island electoral area.
