What's New

The new playground is now open to the public and boasts fully accessible natural wooden features including a jungle dome, double swing set a toddler parkour and embankment slide. The grand opening of the playground is scheduled for the spring of 2020 once the final installation of a toddler bucket seat swing set is installed as well as the iconic rocking horse from the 1960's.

The Salt Spring Island Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) has adopted a 20 year Master Plan to prioritize infrastructure investments for Centennial Park. Site assessments and central drainage was completed prior to planning the playground replacement.

The most recent addition to the public playground was installed in 1995 with some components dating back to 1967 when the park opened. The slide had to be removed and the remaining playground components are at or near the end of their useful life and are not accessible for all users.

This much needed replacement project was made possible thanks in part to a $100,000 donation from the Salt Spring Island Lions Club.
