The Capital Regional District (CRD) and the Greater Victoria Bike to Work Society (GVBTWS) partnered to offer the Ride On! cycling program throughout the Capital Region from April-October, 2014. These interactive, informative courses empower novice riders to make cycling a regular part of their lives, as well as help experienced riders fine-tune their skills.
The courses were designed to increase participants’ confidence and comfort riding in traffic, by teaching them the skills and best practices to enhance their lives through fun, safe cycling.
Nearly 60 courses were available in communities throughout the region.

Cycling Skills Courses
- Adult - Classroom: Learn a thorough understanding of traffic rules, helmet fit, route planning, clothing, reflectivity and more!
- Adult - Road: Hit the streets with trained instructors for a safe, informative 10 km cycle with frequent stops to debrief.
Adults select either the full-day option (classroom & road combined - $35), or the evening/half-day option (classroom or road - $20)
- Kids (7-9): a fun-filled 3 hour course that teaches kids safety skills through games and activities ($20).
The 2014 RideOn! cycling skills courses have wrapped up for the season. The courses helped participants feel confident sharing the road with bikes, cars and pedestrians.
