The Port Renfrew wastewater treatment plant serves a community of approximately 86 households. Sewage is treated at the extended aeration treatment plant with treated effluent discharged to the sea through an 81-meter long outfall.

Authority

The CRD Board was requested by petition in 1989 to assume responsibility for the collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of sewage in Port Renfrew. The service is authorized and administered under Bylaw 1745.

Administration

The Port Renfrew Utility Services Committee provides community input for the delivery of water, wastewater, solid waste and street lighting services in the area.

Funding

The budget for this service is formalized through an annual CRD Financial Plan and is funded by tax requisition, and by user fees and connection charges.
