CRD Origin-Destination Household Travel Survey Seeks Input from Residents

Oct 17, 2017

Victoria, BC – The Capital Regional District (CRD) is launching an Origin-Destination Household Travel Survey on October 17, 2017. The daily travel information gathered in this survey provides local governments and communities across the region with data critical for making informed decisions on transportation investments.

Randomly selected households will receive an invitation letter and brochure about the survey in the mail. Whether completing the survey by phone or online, participants will be asked where and why they travel that day and how they get there. The survey will target 6,550 residents and take approximately 10-25 minutes, depending on the size of the household. The survey will be conducted by Victoria-based research firm, R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. from October 17 through December 17, 2017.

The CRD strongly encourages selected residents to participate in this important initiative which is key to understanding and responding to the travel needs of communities. Household participation is voluntary and all information is strictly confidential. Participants will be entered to win one of several prizes.

Results of the survey will be available in Fall 2018 and will show how regional travel is changing over time. For more information, visit www.crd.bc.ca/project/regional-transportation/origin-destination-household-travel/ .
