Earth Day 5th Annual Community Clean-Up Event

Apr 17, 2014

Victoria, BC –
In honour of Earth Day on April 22, 2014, over 14,000 students from participating schools across Vancouver Island will work together to clean up their surrounding school neighbourhoods. They will pick up and sort garbage and recyclables, tally the amounts collected and share their results with their community.

“Our students take pride in making their schoolyards and neighbouring green spaces a litter-free environment” said Joan Thain, Vice Principal at Lambrick Park Secondary School. “Taking students outside on Earth Day and making our communities cleaner and safer really makes the connection that the environment needs stewardship and is valued.”

Representatives from Lambrick Park Secondary School and event partners CTV, Tim Hortons, BFI, CRD and Canadian Tire will be on-site for interviews, as well as photo opportunities with students.
