Salt Spring Island, BC – Today the Capital Regional District (CRD), Salt Spring Island Electoral Area staff released a resident survey about the Saturday Market in Centennial Park. The Commissions are conducting community-engaged research about the Saturday Market with the aim of improving the market experience for everyone. Currently, we are collaborating with several key “stake-holders” including visitors to and residents of Salt Spring Island, the business owners in downtown Ganges and the market vendors themselves in an effort to better understand their thoughts and experiences regarding the Saturday market. Each group are sharing their ideas and feedback through surveys to help identify possible future directions to enhance the market experience.
To date, we have worked with visitors to Salt Spring, the market vendors and the Ganges business owners. Our next phase is to welcome input from the residents of Salt Spring Island for their thoughts and ideas. The resident survey will run from December 4 until December 19 and is available.
“It is terrific to see a further opportunity for input on market challenges and opportunities facing our iconic Saturday market. Even icons need the occasional polishing and adding the views of residents will assist the CRD Salt Spring Island Commissions, in conjunction with the community, to develop a plan for the future.” said Wayne McIntyre, Electoral Area Director, for Salt Spring Island.
