Feb 28, 2012

Victoria, BC - The Capital Regional District (CRD) is seeking representatives for a Public and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) to help facilitate the development of a new Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan.

The advisory committee will include representation from a wide range of stakeholder groups, including private sector waste management service providers, non-profit organizations, businesses focused on waste diversion, the environmental community and the general public. Participation is voluntary and members will be asked to commit to meeting for up to three years.

Interested parties are invited to review the committee composition list and submit an application through the CRD website. The deadline for applications is March 12, 2012.

“Consultation is a key component of the Integrated Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan,” said CRD Board Chair Geoff Young. “The CRD has a strong commitment to open communications on this major initiative and will continue to be diligent in seeking opportunities for input from our stakeholders.”

The CRD has recently adopted a Liquid Waste Management Plan and the revised Solid Waste and Resource Management Plan will address opportunities for integration with liquid waste programs and resource and energy recovery.
