Apr 21, 2011

Victoria, BC - The Capital Regional District has launched the EcoTunes contest to support local arts, encourage environmental awareness and create opportunities for exchange and education between the arts and environmental sustainability.

The EcoTunes Contest, which runs until May 18, 2011, offers a chance for local, professional and amateur songwriters of all ages to celebrate the region’s landscapes and natural areas through music. Entrants may submit an original song via YouTube for a chance to win a $500 gift certificate with Larsen Music. Second and third prize winners will receive a $50 and $25 gift certificate, respectively. The first prize winner will be invited to perform their song at the 2011 EcoStar Awards Ceremony on June 1, 2011.

“EcoTunes presents an excellent opportunity for local artists,” said Vicki Saunders, Chair of the CRD Arts Committee. “I’m happy to see regional arts support and environmental education paired together in such a constructive way.”

EcoTunes is an initiative of the EcoStar Awards and the Arts Development office. For more information on the EcoTunes contest, full contest rules and entry form details, please visit here.
