Drinking Water Advisory Continues for Salt Spring Island’s Highland Drinking Water System

Victoria, BC - A drinking water filling station is available for Highland Water Service customers.

WHERE: 145 Vesuvius Bay Road (Portlock Park across from tennis courts)

Water Service on Friday and Saturday, Feb 4 and 5, 2011   

Friday                   Feb 4              12:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Saturday              Feb 5              12:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Water Service on Sunday, Feb 6, 2011 and Onward

On Sunday, Feb 6, 2011, and continuing until the Drinking Water Advisory is lifted, Highland Water Service customers can fill their water containers from a tap located outside the North Salt Spring Waterworks District office at 761 Upper Ganges Road.

  • Tap located near fence between waterworks office and highways yard.

Note:  North Salt Spring Waterworks has generously offered to provide this service from their drinking water system which is currently being drawn from Maxwell Lake.

In the Longer Term

CRD staff will provide an update on the longer term outlook early next week. 

CRD staff continue to work diligently to return the Highland Drinking Water System to normal operation.
