Volunteer Firefighters Take Part in CRD Collision Avoidance Workshops

The Capital Regional District is committed to safety and health for its volunteers and employees.  During North America Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week, May 5-9, 2008, employees took part in a number of activities to promote a healthier work environment. On May 31, media are invited to attend the Collision Avoidance Workshops at Western Speedway. Following a short “classroom” session, drivers will be asked to perform useful “hands-on” driving exercises that focus on skills to avoid collisions and gain the all-important“ one more second of reaction time.”Drills include: vision slalom, braking on a curve, braking to a point, reversing exercises and braking on fine sand.

Collision Avoidance Workshops

  • Western Speedway in Langford (2207 Millstream Rd)
  • Saturday, May 31, 2008 10am -5pm
  • CRD Staff will be on hand to answer questions

The participants will be comprised of volunteer firefighters from Pender Island Fire Department, CRD Regional Parks volunteers and CRD Corporate Communications staff.
