City of Victoria: Reception Centre Exercise

Oct 26, 2019, 12:30pm-2pm

Victoria, Oaklands Community Centre

Event Information

Would you like to break out your acting skills and volunteer to participate in an Emergency Reception Centre Exercise? The City of Victoria is looking for volunteers to portray "evacuees" who have been displaced from their homes due to an apartment fire. As a volunteer "evacuee," you will receive helpful emergency preparedness information and the chance to see what a Reception Centre does, while providing Emergency Support Services (ESS) volunteers an opportunity to practice their skills.

To learn more about this opportunity and how you can participate, please email Victoria Ready or call 250.920.3373.

ESS volunteers play an important role in our communities by helping evacuees forced from their homes by fire, floods, earthquakes or other emergencies. ESS volunteers may provide emergency food, lodging, clothing, emotional support, information about the crisis, and may help to reunite families who have been separated.
