Looking for something to do as a family this Friday? Join us for a workshop and tour of Hartland Landfill!
Did you know that in 2016 approximately 10% of what we threw in the landfill was avoidable food waste? Learn what else ends up in our landfill and how our behaviours affect Hartland and the region. Work together as a family to make your own beeswax wraps to help keep your foods fresh and reduce the need for plastic wrap. As your wraps dry, we will take a bus tour of Hartland Landfill to see where your garbage goes, how it is crushed and buried and how we turn garbage into electricity.
Please note: due to the procedure involved in making the beeswax wraps all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Ages: 6+ (when accompanied by an adult)
If you have any questions about the tour please contact us at via email or 250.360.3133.
- Active Face - see where all your garbage goes and what we do with it at the active face
