PROJECT AREA 7 – HALLOWELL ROAD, PROJECT AREA 8 – HALLOWELL RAIL CROSSING UPGRADE

CONTRACT 17-1935

INVITATION TO TENDER

Sealed Tenders, plainly marked on the envelope "Tender for E&N Rail Trail – Project Areas 7 & 8, Project Area 7 – Hallowell Road, Project Area 8 – Hallowell Rail Crossing Upgrade, Contract 17-1935" will be received by the General Manager, Parks & Environmental Services of the Capital Regional District at their offices at 625 Fisgard Street, Victoria, British Columbia up to 2:00:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at which time they will be opened in public.

The works to be constructed under this Contract generally include the following:

Construction of a new multi-use trail extending from the Hallowell Road Rail Crossing along Hallowell Road connecting to the recently completed multi-use trail at Admirals Road.  Major works associated with this contract include construction of a multi-use asphalt surfaced trail, drainage infrastructure, Hallowell Road re-alignment, new concrete curb and gutter, fencing, roadway paving, signage, pavement markings and bollards.  The Hallowell Road rail crossing safety upgrade major works includes installation of all civil works to support the signalization of the intersection, including, but not limited to, installation of a rail bungalow, conduits and junction boxes for rail infrastructure, rail signal bases, signage, asphalt and rail flange installation and coordination with E&N rail workers.  Complete details for the construction scope of work are available in the tender document package.  All works to be substantially complete by September 15, 2018.

Specifications, Drawings, Contract Documents, and Tender Form may be seen at the offices of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association, 3636 East 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC; the Southern Vancouver Island Construction Association, 1075 Alston Street, Victoria, BC; and the Capital Regional District, 625 Fisgard Street, Victoria, BC on or after February 23, 2018

Copies may be obtained from the Capital Regional District, Parks & Environmental Services department, on payment of $50.00 (GST included) for each copy requested, the sum of which is non-refundable.  Digital copies may also be downloaded from www.crd.bc.ca/about/contracts-rfps/ and at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca.

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

A mandatory pre-tender site meeting will be held at the E&N Hallowell Road Rail Crossing located in View Royal, BC on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
