Wastewater Discharge Notice – Magic Lake Estates (North Pender Island)

Nov 15, 2021 (updated Nov 15, 2021, 12:53pm)

Residents are advised to avoid entering the waters along the affected shoreline, as the wastewater may pose a health risk.

High intensity rain events caused combined stormwater, treated and untreated wastewater flows entering the marine environment through the discharge outfall pipe from Schooner Pump Station  November 14 and 15, 2021. The shoreline impacted is Boat Nook on North Pender Island.

As a result of these discharges, residents are advised to avoid entering the waters along the affected shoreline, as the wastewater may pose a health risk.

As a precaution and in consultation with Island Health, beaches within the affected areas will be posted with public health advisory signs until sample results indicate enterococci levels are below the 70CFU/100mL recreational limit.
