Low Water and Drought Conditions: Cedars of Tuam Water System (SSI)

Oct 01, 2021 (updated Oct 01, 2021, 10:23am)

Residents on the Cedars of Tuam Water System are required to further reduce water use.

The Cedars of Tuam Water System water supply is now at critically low levels due to the current drought conditions. Given the current state of your water source we are seeking your cooperation to further reduce water usage to avoid near loss or complete loss of supply. To limit or avoid trucking in water, at significant cost, please practice the following enhanced water conservation measures until further notice.

Residents are required to conserve water as follows:

  • No outdoor water use at all except for very limited watering of vegetable gardens with a container. All other Stage 3 water restrictions remain in effect.
  • Work towards a further reduction in water use indoors as follows:
    • Remind tenants, visitors and guests of the need to conserve water indoors
    • Strive for 5 minute showers
    • Turn off the tap when lathering hands, brushing teeth and shaving
    • Wash full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine
    • Reuse water from washing and cooking vegetables
  • Avoid potential water loss catastrophes by shutting off the water at the main when leaving town for more than a day.
  • Recycle water wherever you can: install water catchment systems, keep pails and buckets handy to catch extra water.
