Beach Advisory Issued for Elk Lake

The beach advisory for Hamsterly Beach has been lifted. The beach advisory for Eagle Beach remains in effect.

As of August 30, 2019, this advisory has been updated to lift the beach advisory for Hamsterly Beach. The beach advisory for Eagle Beach remains in effect.

The CRD, in consultation with Island Health, has lifted the beach advisory for Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake within Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park. Sampling results at Hamsterly Beach show bacteriological counts below acceptable limits in the water and is considered safe for swimming.

The beach advisory for Eagle Beach at Elk Lake remains in effect. The CRD, in consultation with Island Health, reports that water samples from Eagle Beach within Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park show high levels of bacteria and advises that the water may be unsafe for swimming and recreational activities: as a precautionary measure, it is NOT recommended for people or pets to enter the water at Eagle Beach.
