Roadside Forest Swale
A roadside swale was built in the winter of 2007-08 as a retrofit and covers a 120 metre distance on a public right of way.
Rainwater Management Techniques

Bioswales
While original plans called for a 60 metre rain garden as well as a bioswale, budget constraints meant only the swale could be built at the time. The swale takes runoff from the Island Highway surface, providing some slowing and treatment of water quality. The grasses swale is an alternative to a standard enclosed pipe approach. Phase II of this project will include a rain garden component with underdrains.
Cost & Funding
$40,000, with public funding.
