BC Cancer Centre: Rainwater Management
The BC Cancer Centre is an institutional hospital, owned by the Vancouver Island Health Authority, in the municipality of Saanich.
Rainwater Management Techniques
Permeable Paving
Unit pavers were used for 41 new parking spaces and a movement area.
Bioswale
An existing bioswale was enhanced within the riparian area of the adjacent creek.
Both projects are located on the north east corner of the hospital, adjacent to Bowker Creek and the Helicopter landing area. Stormwater impact mitigation for the parking lot expansion was a result of the municipal Development Permit process. The Hospital Authority provided funding.
