Victoria International Airport, Parking Lot Expansion

A 500 parking stall, 400 rental car stall addition to the airport's parking lot was built in 2006 as a retrofit.

Rainwater Management Techniques

Victoria International Airport

Raingardens, Bioswales & Bioretention Ponds

The parking lot expansion was designed to attenuate in 1 in 2 year storm events. Overflow routing was designed to handle a 1 in 100 year event. As part of an integrated stormwater quality approach, raingardens and swales were installed instead of the usual catch basins and culverts. All runoff from the the impervious suraces is directed into vegetated catchment areas for detention and treatment before discharge to local watercourses. Stormwater from the airport flows into two creeks: Reay, which empties to Bazan Bay in the East, and Ten Ten, which empties to Patricia Bay in the West.
